This event is to honor those who have struggled or passed away from overdose. When walking into the stadium, everyone will be given purple bracelets provided by the SAFE Youth Council Program.

Then, there will be an information table flooded with a purple tablecloth and purple balloons. The information will be provided by SAFE, and a donation QR code will be set up for them. Before the game starts, luminaries will be set up in the middle of the field in the shape of a heart. Football players will run out onto the field, and the cheerleaders will take off the luminaries and line them on the sidewalks outside of the stadium. During this, the announcer will read a script I will give him about the severity of overdose and honoring those we have lost.

My brother, Mason Coates passed away from an accidental overdose on July 13th, 2023. My community often keeps drug addiction in the dark, so I’m hoping to bring awareness to my community through this event.
